Talk show host Henry Costa is reportedly the subject of an ongoing investigation by the National Security Agency (NSA) in the recent deportation saga of a Lebanese national that sparked public outcry.

Sam Fawaz’ return to Monrovia on January 11, 2015 after he was reported to have died in a prison in Lebanon last year raised questions about the nature of his deportation.

A high placed source at the NSA confirmed Monday that their interest in Costa was based on a complaint filed by Fawaz.

“That is true. There is an active joint criminal investigation that is ongoing with police and immigration on how the young man was illegal deported from Liberia without court proceedings. The basis of this is a complaint that was filed by Mr. Fawaz. Mr. Fawaz alleges that Mr. Costa played a key role in his illegal deportation,” a senior NSA official said.

Our source said a joint investigative team was looking into kidnapping and criminal conspiracy charges against Mr. Costa and soon-to-be identified immigration officers.

However, Costa told our reporter that he would not submit to the probe.

“I will not submit myself to an NSA-led politically motivated witch-hunt under the guise of a human trafficking investigation. They will have to use force or other means to compel me. It’s up to them.”

Following Mr. Sam Fawaz’s return to Liberia earlier this month, the Commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization, Cllr. Lemuel Reeves, said the return meant that investigation would resume in the case.
