MONROVIA, November 27 (LINA) -A 22-year-old resident of the Monrovia suburb of Gardnersville has been arrested and remanded at the Monrovia
Central Prison pending trial for alleged theft of property and statutory rape.

According to the Liberia News Agency, police arrested Hassan Dukuly on November 22 for allegedly duping Masangay Fofana, 28, of US$300 under the pretext of obtaining visas for her and 30 others to travel to the United States.

The Police charge sheet indicated that Dukuly also allegedly raped Fofana and her two daughters aged 15 and 16, tricking them to believe that he would deliver them from witchcraft and as a precondition for their travel to the United States.

The Police charge sheet further indicated that Dukuly carried out his “fake ritual” on the victims, took advantage of their vulnerable state of mind and sexually abused them in swampy, dark and isolated places as far as in Harbel, Margibi County.

The charge sheet, police crime scene investigation and medical reports as well as testimonies from the victims revealed that Dukuly allegedly raped the three women, leaving the 15-year-old pregnant.

The charge sheet stated that Dukuly, who is behind bars pending trial at the Monrovia City Court, denied the charges during police preliminary investigation.
