KAKATA, November 24 (LINA) -The Coordinator of SAMJAC Agro Industry, Samuel Mentee, has said the organization will buttress government’s effort to ensure that food security is achieved amidst the Ebola outbreak.

Mentee noted that SAMJAC will begin to shift its attention towards cultivating local agricultural products and processing them into finished products to add value to produce grown by local farmers.

He made the call over the weekend in Kakata at the close of a two-day leadership workshop for local farmers conducted by SAMJAC in collaboration with the West African Agricultural Productivity Program (WAAPP) Liberia.

According to Mentee, the workshop was intended to improve the leadership skills of local farmers in the operation of their individual farms, especially in the production of cassava and seed rice.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Marcus Miller thanked WAAPP and SAMJAC Agro Industry for the training, adding, “Providing such skills will empower us help national government in ensuring that food security in Liberia is attained.”

The SAMJAC Agro Industry is a non-governmental organization engaged in providing support to local farmers by empowering them in food production, especially in the areas of seed rice and cassava.
