Margibi County Superintendent John Buway has said the county’s authority and Ebola Taskforce will not hesitate to take punitive measures against those involved in transporting their Ebola dead or sick relatives to the county.

Buway noted that he is consulting the County Attorney to take drastic actions in keeping with the Public Health Law to deal with anyone who is in direct contravention of said law.

Superintendent Buway’s statement comes in the wake of a recent confirmed case of Ebola in Borlorla Township, Gibi District in Margibi County, leading to several persons being place under quarantine in Lonfaye, Gaygbah and Papa towns.

He made the statement at the weekend during the county’s weekly Ebola Taskforce meeting held at the Administrative Building in Kakata.

Buway noted that the county and its partners have made significant gains in the fight against the virus, adding: “We were poised to even be declared Ebola free; it is unfortunate that some citizens will get involved in acts that are contrary to our fight against the virus.”

It can be recalled that a month ago when a confirmed case of Ebola was reported in the county, it was alleged that the victim had been transported from Monrovia to Margibi County for herbal treatment.
