MONROVIA, January 21(LINA) -The Ministry of Education has vowed to “suspend or revoke” the permit of any school that fails to comply with the protocols put in place to ensure a safe environment in schools.

According to the Liberia News Agency, the protocols released by the ministry recently require school administrators to ensure that their school campuses are kept clean, safe and conducive for learning at all times.

The protocols also wants school administrators to ensure that students strictly follow the eating and drinking practices as failure to do so the administrators would be liable for negligence and suspended accordingly.

All school administrators are required to create awareness about the protocols on their campuses, ensure that the schools have access to safe drinking water and keep the bathrooms clean as failing to do so will result to the suspension of the school administrator.

According to the protocols, when a student is observed to be ill, the appropriate measures established by the protocols must be followed.

The protocols noted that failure to do so shall result to the school administrator or personnel being dismissed and forwarded to the Ministry of Justice for prosecution under the Public Safety Law of Liberia.

Every District and County Education Officer is required to submit a “consolidated” monthly report to the Deputy Education Minister for Instruction and every information holder at the national, county, district and school level must commit to provide the most current and accurate data and monitoring report, the protocols state.

The Ministry of Education, through its appropriate units, shall monitor adherence to the protocols by school administrators, education personnel, parents, students and visitors to school campuses with a mandate that school administrators ensure full compliance.

Any student who deliberately decides not to follow those protocols shall be expelled from school with immediate effect, according to the protocols.
