VOINJAMA, April 22 (LINA) - The Samaritan’s Purse International Relief Organization (SPIRO) has launched an awareness campaign on the deadly Ebola disease in Foya District, Lofa County.

The campaign kicked off at the weekend, targeting several communities, 40 churches, 16 schools and three marketplaces in Foya.

SPIRO Lofa representative Cyrus Dadeah made the disclosure during a coordination meeting with the Lofa County Health Team in Voinjama recently, according to the Liberia News Agency.

Dadeah said SPIRO has trained two of its staff and 42 general community health volunteers to teach communities on how to prevent the virus.

He also told the meeting that SPIRO has also started renovating hand pumps at the Foya Borma Hospital and is assessing its ambulance to prepare the vehicle to help transport suspected patients to the health facility.

SPIRO is one of the NGOs partnering with the Lofa County Health Team in combating the Ebola virus in the county.
