MONROVIA, November 26 (LINA) - Two presidential nominees who appeared before the Liberian Senate for confirmation hearings have promised improved and quality services at their establishments if confirmed.

Director-General-designate of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) Ledgerhood Rennie and Deputy Transport Minister for Administration and Insurance-designate Bushuben Keita made the commitment Tuesday when they appeared before the Senate Committees on Information and Broadcasting, and Transport respectively.

Rennie, who is currently Deputy Director-General of LBS, said his first priority will be to install a two-channel system in order to stabilize the operations of the entity.

“With improved budgetary support, I will improve the content produced on the station by introducing cultural, educational and health programs on separate commercial and broadcast channels,” he assured.

The LBS received a little over US$700,000 in the 2013/2014 fiscal budget.

For his part, Deputy Transport Minister-designate Keita said he plans to coordinate with relevant agencies to automate drivers’ licenses and vehicle registration.

Keita also said he would launch an education campaign for motorists in the various vernaculars on road safety regulations and the policies on property and casualty insurance.

According to him, his campaigns, including decentralization of licenses renewal, are part of ongoing efforts at the ministry to reduce fraud, accidents, and further enhance the ministry’s revenue generation capacity.
