SANNIQUELLIE, November 27 (LINA) – Nimba County Police Commander has called on officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) to continue to provide justice and protection for every citizen, especially women and children.

Commander Gbor Phil Tougbay said women are partners to men and should not be victimized because of their inability to defend themselves against perpetrators of violence in society.

Tougbay made the statement at the Ganta Police Depot Wednesday following the dedication of the Women and Children Protection Section of the LNP constructed by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

He observed that women and children have been abused in society over the years and that it was now time that society intervened to change this trend and ensure justice for all.

Meanwhile, the Nimba Police chief has warned police officers to refrain from collecting bond and other fees from citizens under the pretext of rendering them justice, and threatened administrative action against violators.
