Four officers of the Liberia National Police are undergoing investigation for US$29 payroll theft.

A highly placed police source informed our reporter that the four officers allegedly placed several ghost names on the police payroll and diverted the money to their accounts.

The officers in question are Michael Wilson and Lewis Brown; while the rest were only identified as Boakai and Rufus.

The four accused men are part of the police account section and acted collectively.
Police Inspector General Col. Clearance Massaquio, who is keen on building a professional police according to our source, is deeply concerned about the matter.

When police spokesman Sam Collins was contracted on the issue, he could not deny or confirm the matter.

Meanwhile report gathered says the four accused officers will be sent to the Monrovia Magisterial Court at the Temple of Justice Thursday for prosecution.

The investigation of the four officers comes barely a day after two junior police officers were remanded at the Monrovia Central Prison for allegedly stealing US$31,330 intended for Police Ebola operation.

Officers Dee David Henry and Timothy Papie Mator were arraigned before the Monrovia Magisterial Court Monday with a charged of theft of property, misapplication of entrusted property and economic sabotage.
