MONROVIA, November 18 (LINA) -The National Elections Commission (NEC) has deployed 400 persons and seven civil society organizations in the 73 electoral districts to provide civic and voter education for the impending Special Senatorial Election slated for December.

According to the Chairman of the National Elections Commission (NEC), Jerome G. Korkoya, the civic educators and civil society organizations (CSOs) will carry out outreach and door-to-door education of voters for the election.

Chairman Korkoya made the disclosure at a news conference held at the NEC headquarters in Monrovia Monday, according to the Liberia News Agency.

He added that 30 women CSOs will also be deployed in the 15 counties to carry out gender-sensitive awareness, with support from the International Foundation for Electoral System and UN Development Program.

Korkoya said to facilitate an effective and robust civic and voter education campaign, several educational and awareness materials, including posters, flyers, T-shirts, caps, bumper stickers and banners, have been produced for distribution nationwide.
