ROBERTSPORT, November 25 (LINA) - A Senatorial aspirant for Grand Cape Mount County, Cllr .Varney Sherman, has urged citizens of the county to refrain from voting on the basis of tribal and religious affiliation.

Sherman made the call Tuesday when he addressed partisans of the ruling Unity Party (UP) and other supporters in Robertsport, the capital of the county.

He said the time has come for citizens to vote for people who have the vision, ability and integrity to undertake development that will improve the living standard of the people.

Cllr. Sherman attributed the backwardness of the county to the election of individuals who do not have the citizens and county at heart in terms of development.

Sherman, who is also the National Chairman of the UP, said voting for people for hand-outs is one of the key factors responsible for the underdevelopment of Grand Cape Mount County.

The UP Chairman disclosed that he will officially launch his campaign on Wednesday, November 26, in Sinje, Garwula District with Vice President Joseph N. Boakai in attendance.
