ZWEDRU, November 25 (LINA) -A two-day Civic and Voter Education and Gender Regional Consultative workshop has ended in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.

The workshop, which brought together 135 participants from Grand Kru, Maryland, River Gee, and Grand Gedeh counties, was organized by the National Elections Commission (NEC) with funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Speaking at the close of the workshop at the weekend, NEC Commissioner for Civic and Voter Education, Davidetta Lansanna, assured that the Commission will put mechanisms into place to prevent the spread of the Ebola virus during the December 16 Special Senatorial Elections.

She said while it is true Ebola is still in Liberia, there was nothing for voters to worry about as all will be done to control their participation in the exercise without congestion of queues.

She told the participants to encourage fellow voters in their constituencies to go out and vote on December 16 for leaders of their choice.

Topics discussed during the workshop held at the Zwedru City Hall include steps, procedures and challenges in the electoral process, the role of the media and field and outreach framework, among others.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Rev. J. Tehnisio Wiah of Grand Kru County thanked NEC for the workshop and promised they would use the knowledge acquired to ensure the success of the electoral process.
