MONROVIA, October 1 (LINA) -The Government of Liberia has requested its non-essential employees to continue to remain home until otherwise instructed, as a measure to decongest public institutions.

According to an Executive Mansion press release, the employees will, however, continue to receive full pay and benefits.

The stay home instruction took effect in August as part of a number of measures announced by government to contain the spread of the Ebola virus.

The release said during this period, non-essential government employees are encouraged to engage in community-based awareness and clean-up exercises as part of the fight against the Ebola virus.

Meanwhile, Government is thanking all public servants, especially those at the forefront of the fight against Ebola, for continuing to deliver essential services to the Liberian people.

The government reminded Liberians that the crisis is not yet over, but significant progress has been made by putting in place the structures necessary to contain and subsequently eradicate the Ebola virus from the country.

"To build up the gains, the government encourages all public institutions to keep a safe working environment for all employees," the press release said.

It further advised that established safety protocols must be reinforced at all workplaces, including hand washing and periodic general clean-up exercises.
