TUBMANBURG, December 30 (LINA) –Citizens of Vas-ZOLN Town in Bomi County are appealing to the Government of Liberia to provide them with safe drinking water and latrines.

The citizens said they currently travel far distances every day to fetch water from nearby creeks and use the bushes for defecation. A 35 year-old man, Vincent Taweh, said children frequently come down with diseases due to the drinking of water from creeks.

Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency on Moday in the district, Mr. Taweh emphasized that there is no latrine in the town and that the only hand pump in the town is damaged and is no longer functional, noting that for more than one year, they have been drinking from creeks.

Mr. Taweh said those who are economically empowered purchase mineral water from the Sasstown Market for drinking purposes.
He said Vas-zoln Town has a population of 370 residents, and that if nothing is done to address the situation during the dry season, it will create serious problem for the people of the town.
