The Supreme Court has opened an inquest into the authenticity of document crafted by two Liberian lawyers implicating Commercial Court Chief Judge Eva Mappy Morgan to a criminal transaction.

The Higher Court released the lawyers last Friday after a writ of prohibition filed by Liberia former Solicitor General Cllr. Tiawo Gongole to release his detained colleagues at the Monrovia Central Prison.

Cllr. Milton Taylor and Cllr. Viama Chamber along with Judge Mappy are before Justice Philip Banks at the higher court.

The hearing is close to the public and the press.

Judge Morgan last Wednesday jailed Cllrs. Taylor and Blama for a month each for allegedly falsifying a document implicating her in a criminal transaction.

Cllr. Gongole cited several legal issues in his complaint to the Justice In Chamber Philip Banks, saying “Judge Eva Mappy Morgan‘s action was wrongful as well as an abuse of power.”

Judge Eva Mappy Morgan has already been cited by the Justice Banks for conference before a decision can be reached on the matter.

There are mixed reactions among lawyers at the Temple of Justice over the detention of the two lawyers who have spent the first night in jail at ‘South Beach’.
