MONROVIA, September 1 (LINA) - A resident of the Township of West Point has commended Montserrado County Representative Saah Joseph for the humanitarian assistance accorded the township during its 10-day quarantine.
Speaking to the Liberia News Agency in an interview in West Point Sunday, Matthew Suahkollie said Representative Joseph transported patients to the various health centers for treatment and also distributed rice and other food items to the people of West Point.
“He therefore deserves some commendation for serving the people of West Point,” Suahkollie said.
“Even though Ebola is real, no one died from Ebola in West Point during the quarantine. We thank God for that. Everybody is healthy. If you see me, you will not believe that I wasquarantined,” Suakollie said.
He used the occasion to call on the government to publicly announce that West Point is Ebola-free.
It can be recalled that the Liberian Government on August 20 ordered the quarantine of West Point as a preventive measure against the spread of the deadly Ebola virus beyond the community which has a population of over 50,000 inhabitants.
The government lifted the quarantine after 10 days on Saturday, August 31.
