Solicitor General Betty Lamin-Blamoh has instructed all government prosecutors, including County Attorneys, to prioritize financial and rape cases.

Blamoh wants prosecutors to include corruption, money laundering and other cases that have to do with such crime for the next two to three terms of Court, according to a Justice Ministry release.

It said Blamoh made the statement Wednesday at the opening of a week-long refresher training workshop for government prosecutors in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

She mandated the lawyers to focus on cases coming from County Development Funds, General Auditing Commission, Audit Reports andthe Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) that had been investigated by the Ministry of Justice team of investigators and are ready for prosecution as well as rape cases.

According to Blamoh, there are too many cases of corruption from the GAC since 2009 and LACC yet to be prosecuted and other recommendations needed to be forwarded for action.

The Liberian Solicitor General further informed the prosecutors not to forget about other major first degree felonious crimes, such as murder and armed robbery that will come from their counties.

The training under the Theme: “Proof Beyond Reasonable Doubt –The Standard for Criminal Conviction,” is a regular refresher for government prosecutors to share their experiences over the past term of court as they prepare for the next term.

The workshop brought together government lawyers from around the country to meet in one county where facilitators from government, US Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics Law Enforcement, and other international partners shared new skills.
