MONROVIA, Liberia – In a sign of continued commitment to its operations in Liberia, ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Liberia Ltd (ExxonMobil) has provided the More than Me organization with a $35,000 grant to fund Ebola prevention and care efforts in Liberia.
The organization operates the More than Me Academy in the West Point neighborhood of Monrovia and works to get young girls off the street and into school. The organization focuses on combatting Ebola through caring for children left vulnerable by the virus, enabling identification of potential cases and supporting doctors treating the virus.
“More than Me has a history of doing extremely important work in Monrovia and has tailored its mission to care for the victims of Ebola during this hard time,” said Pam Darwin, ExxonMobil Exploration Company’s Vice President for Africa. “We are proud to support More than Me, other international aid organizations and the Liberian government in their efforts to defeat Ebola in Liberia.”
ExxonMobil also provided a $150,000 grant to the Red Cross in August 2014 and a $75,000 grant in April 2014 to Plan International to support local public health efforts soon after the Ebola virus was detected in Liberia.
