MONROVIA, November 19 (LINA) - The Government of Liberia has ordered all beaches operating across the country closed on November 29.

November 29 is the birth anniversary of Liberia’s18th and longest serving president, William V.S. Tubman, which is observed as a national holiday.
Traditionally, Liberians crowd the beaches and other entertainment places to celebrate the day.
Jackson told the Ministry of Information Ebola daily press conference Wednesday in Monrovia that the decision is aimed at curbing the further spread of the Ebola virus.

He said government has ordered the Liberia National Police to keep surveillance at beaches across the country to apprehend violators.

Recently, the government issued a warning against gathering at beaches in violation of the pronouncement by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf few months ago halting large gatherings at beaches and amusement centers due to the Ebola outbreak.
