President Sirleaf terms Sethi Brothers Inc. as being amongst “those who have made it possible to see what is possible in our country.”
She made the statement on Saturday, at the dedicatory ceremony of the Dura Plast Inc., a Plastic Factory and Recycling Plant in Jamaica Road, Bushrod Island.
Pointing out the roles of the government and the investors, President Sirleaf noted that “to have an economy grow, there are lots of players and all of the players will have to do their parts."
The Liberian leader stressed that the role of government is to continue to create the enabling environment adding, "we can formulate the strategies, we can make the laws, our legislature will have to pass those laws to make sure that we create the environments."
The President explained further that Liberians and their foreign partners must continue to take advantage of the conducive environment existing in the country to invest, create more jobs and expand the economy. "Take advantage and do your part", she added.
President Sirleaf expressed satisfaction with the growing spirit of Liberian entrepreneurship and promised the continued support of the Liberian government in downstream linkages between foreign investments in the country and local businesses.
The President also called on Liberians to support Liberian businesses and do away with the purchase of imported products stressing that "businesses grow by your support.”
President Sirleaf acknowledged Mr. Sethi and his team for the level of investment and encourage them to do more and also employ Liberians in managerial positions. The president also used the occasion to call on other investors to take advantage of the industrial sector so as to add value to raw materials.
The Dura Plast (Lib.) Inc., initially started as an import and export company, is now manufacturing all types of household and industrial plastic products. The company is situated on Jamaica Road, Bushrod Island in Monrovia.
