TUBMANBURG, November 25 (LINA) - House Speaker Alex J. Tyler has cautioned citizens of Bomi County not to rely only on the government to develop the newly-established Tehr District in the county.

Speaker Tyler said government has its own responsibility to construct schools, health centers and rehabilitate roads, among others, in the county.

Speaker Tyler was speaking at the weekend when he turned over Tehr District to the citizens of Bomi County in Zordee Town.

He stressed that the citizens must be proactive in the development of the district and the county by undertaking self-help projects to meet some of the needs of the county.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Internal Affairs Minister Morris Dukuly lauded President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for the able leadership she is providing the Liberian people.

He said the government has played its role in elevating Tehr to a district, and called on citizens of the district to play their role to develop the area.

Minister Dukuly also lauded Speaker Tyler and the Bomi County Legislative Caucus for elevating Tehr to district status, noting that this will bring more development to the county.
