MONROVIA, November 26 (LINA) - The Bureau of Immigration and Nationalization (BIN) on Wednesday turned over to the Montserrado County Attorney’s office 12 Nigerians to be prosecuted for allegedly obtaining fraudulent traveling documents.

According to the Liberia News Agency, the Nigerians were arrested by immigration officers two weeks ago, when they attempted to leave the country with fraudulent documents through the border in Yekepa, Nimba County.

BIN Director of Press and Public Affairs Col. Abraham A. Dolley told reporters Wednesday that the accused violated section 15.72 of the Penal Code Law of Liberia relating to fraudulent traveling documents.

He indicated that Vincent Okja Aja, who is the head of the group, allegedly obtained the false traveling certificates to travel with 11 Nigerians from Liberia after President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf emphasized that all border points should remain closed to prevent the spread of Ebola.

Meanwhile, all 12 Nigerians have been detained at the Monrovia Central Prison pending prosecution.
