MONROVIA, January 27 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has lauded the management of the National Port Authority (NPA) for maintaining internationally accepted standards which ensure the continuous docking of vessels at Liberian ports amidst the Ebola outbreak.

President Sirleaf, in her annual message delivered to the Fourth Session of the 53rd National Legislature on Monday, noted that maximum developments in operational activities have being made at the three major seaports of Liberia even during the height of the Ebola crisis.

She described as “significant progress” achievements made at the ports of Monrovia, Buchanan and Sinoe in terms of shipping service and revenue generation when Ebola struck.

“We will conclude action for the development of the Buchanan port by French company Bollare and the Sinoe port by the Dutch firm APM Terminal, which manages the Freeport Port of Monrovia,” she noted.

The NPA in 2014 recorded the berthing of larger vessels, increasing its support to the 2014/2015 National Budget by 100 percent to US$2 million.
