MONROVIA, November 28 (LINA) – The National Port Authority (NPA) is conducting a two-month intensive training for high-ranking officers of the Liberia Sea Port Police (LSP) in Crime Management and Introduction to Law in Monrovia.

The officers are also being trained in Ethics and Code of Conduct, Human Rights and the Liberian Constitution, Report Writing, Communication and Debriefing.

Making the disclosure in an interview with the Liberia News Agency in Monrovia Thursday, NPA Public Relations Manager, Malcolm Scott, said the training is being conducted to strengthen the capacity of the human resource component of the institution.

Scott indicated that the training is also intended to maintain a professional paramilitary organization of senior Sea Port Police with the sole responsibility to secure all sea ports and effectively address security challenges and concerns.

He said the training began on October 20 following series of meetings held between the Port Facility Security Officers and the Training Department of the Liberia National Police Academy.

Meanwhile, Mr. Scott has revealed that over 30 employees of the NPA have undergone training in different skills in various countries, including America, Ghana, Singapore and Israel, while others have benefited from professional training courses from the Liberia Institute of Public Administration.

He also disclosed that plans are underway by the NPA to provide additional training opportunities for middle and line patrol men in the first quarter of 2015.
