MONROVIA, October 11 (LINA) – The Director General of the National Bureau of Veteran Affairs (NBVA), Retired General Rudolf F. Kolaco, Sr., has commended members of the organization for cultivating 4.8 hectares of farmland in Kponkon Town, Compound #1 in Grand Bassa County.

General Kolaco noted that the effort is a plus to the government’s agriculture program designed to ensure self-sufficiency in food production and food security.

He also praised the volunteers who have been working assiduously on the farm without pay, and encouraged them to continue as everything was being done to ensure that they are placed on government payroll.

The Liberia News Agency reports that Gen. Kolaco made the statement on Friday at a ceremony marking the official turning over of the Demonstrative Project to authorities of the Bureau of Veteran Affairs.

He also applauded the Ministry of Agriculture for the level of support it has given to the Veteran farm, adding that the ministry has always stood by the Bureau.

In remarks during the occasion, Mr. James K. Morlu, a senior Agriculture Officer of the Technical Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, assured the Ministry’s commitment to working with all agriculture related projects in the country.

He then lauded the Veterans for the farm project and encouraged them to do more.
