MONROVIA, December 1(LINA) - A representative of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has said Liberians should refrain from complacency and begin to accept the fact that Ebola still exists with imminent threat on their lives.

Dr. Kevin De Cock, a Public Health expert, made the statement at the Ministry of Information daily Ebola press conference held at the ministry in Monrovia on Monday.

He said while Liberia is making strides to sustain its democracy through electoral campaigns, people should regularly practice preventive habits, noting “complacency remains a major danger in combating Ebola.”   

“The infection level has changed, but there are still developments of hotspots, which mean that the epidemic is still real although there are decline in cases,” De Cock said.

He noted that eradicating Ebola from Liberia depends on positive response and continuous efforts by the people to keep themselves within the confines of preventive measures.

He then praised the Government of Liberia, its partners and community dwellers for efforts being exerted to eradicate the virus from the country.
