SANNIQUELLIE, December 11 (LINA) - Superintendent Fong Zuagele has lauded President Sirleaf and Arcelor Mittal for signing the agreement
for the pavement of the Ganta-Yekepa road.
Zuagele termed the decision reached as a “boost” for the government and people of Liberia, saying the pavement of the road will help the citizens of Nimba easily transport their goods and services across the country.
Zuagele disclosed that the Ganta-Yekepa road project has long been delayed, beginning with the operations of LAMCO at Mount Nimba in 1960, and pointed out that with the signing of the new agreement, the citizens of Nimba can be assured that they can begin benefiting from Mineral Development agreements such as bridges, schools and roads,
among others.
The superintendent’s statement comes days after the Government of Liberia and Arcelor Mittal signed a US$37.28 million contractual agreement with a Senegalese company to pave the Ganta-Yekepa road beginning January of 2015.
He further disclosed that negotiations are on the way to include Nimbaians in the job creation component of the agreement.
Zuagele made the statement in an interview with the Liberian News Agency via mobile phone.
