Defense Minister Appreciates U.S. Support

MONROVIA, December 22 (LINA)-- Liberia’s Defense Minister, Brownie J. Samukai, Jr., has expressed appreciation to the United States Government for its support to Ebola affected countries in the West Africa sub-region.

 

According to a Defense Ministry press release issued at the weekend, Minister Samukai particularly praised the leadership role being demonstrated by the U.S. Government which, according to him, signifies that Liberia is not alone in the fight against the Ebola Virus Disease.

He praised U.S Senator Christopher Coons for highlighting Liberia’s plight to his government. In the words of Minister Samukai, “Your robust response has made a significant impact on the psyche of our people.”

Meanwhile, Minister Samukai has appealed for more robust support from the U. S Government for stabilization of the health crisis not only in Liberia but also the other hard hit countries of Guinea and Sierra Leone.

The release signed by Assistant Defense Minister for Public Affairs David K. Dahn, said Minister Samukai made the commendation on Saturday, December 20, when Senator Coons and delegation paid him a courtesy visit at his BTC office in Monrovia.

In remarks, Senator Coons expressed gratitude to the Liberian people through the Minister of National Defense for the warm hospitality accorded him and his delegation.

He thanked the AFL for its support to the U.S. Military which is helping them to respond in an expeditious manner. “We will continue our emergency actions that will support your effort aimed at eradicating this deadly Ebola,” Senator Coons assured.
