SANNIQUELLIE, December 22 (LINA) – A senatorial aspirant in the just ended mid-term senatorial poll, Cllr. Yarmie Quiqui Gbeisay, has congratulated incumbent Senator Prince Yormie Johnson as he dominates preliminary tallies and results coming from voting precincts across Nimba County.

Cllr. Gbeisay who ran on the ticket of the Congress for Democratic Change said although official results are yet to be released by the National Election Commission, it is clear that the incumbent has won the election, noting “I acknowledge my defeat.”

Gbeisay lauded the people of Nimba for the manner in which they conducted themselves in exercising their franchise during Saturday’s Senatorial poll that was void of violence and intimidation.

Preliminary results show that Senator Prince Y Johnson is leading the former Nimba Superintendent Edith Gongloe Weh, his major contender, with a very high margin.

According to provisional results from the National Elections Commission Nimba Magistrates on Sunday, Senator Johnson also won over 99 percent of the vote cast in Gbeiseh Lah Town, the hometown of Cllr. Gbeisay.
