MONROVA, January 13 (LINA)-The Superintendent of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS), Benjamin Adolphus Jacobs, has clarified that the school system’s instructional curriculum will not be compressed as is being speculated.
It was widely circulated in recent weeks that the MCSS was contemplating reducing the school curriculum to compensate for time lost due to the protracted closure of schools occasioned by the Ebola outbreak, according to the Liberia News Agency.
Jacobs said the MCSS will run a full-scale school program where students will be afforded the opportunity to attend regular classes to enable them complete the semester’s curriculum.
The MCSS Superintendent made the clarification Tuesday at the Ministry of Information daily Ebola press conference held at the ministry in Monrovia.
Jacobs noted that the compression of instructional lesson plans will be detrimental to the educational sojourn of students as many of them are slow learners and as such must be afforded more time during school hours.
He noted that even though the MCSS is not 00 percent sure of achieving all its pre-school preparatory goals, the relevant safety protocols will be put in place to ensure the accurate functioning of schools.
Meanwhile, Jacobs has appealed to parents and guardians to advise their children to always abide by the safety protocols that will be instituted by school authorities to prevent the outbreak of Ebola in schools.
