MONROVIA, December 4(LINA) - The Coordinator of the Catholic Heath Secretariat in Monrovia, Mrs. Yah Wynn-Gausi, says despite many difficulties, all health centers being operated by the Catholic Church will remain open.

She said though all is not well within the health centers, efforts are being exerted to ensure that the health needs of the public are catered to and prioritized.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Mrs. Gausi made the statement when she received a consignment of medical supplies valued at over US$1,500 from  a local group called,  “Kids Liberia”.

The Catholic Church’s health official lauded the commitment of the management and staff of the Catholic Heath Secretariat for their sacrificial services, and urged them to continue to work in the best interest of the Liberian people.
According to her, one reason why the health centers will remain opened is to cater to other curable cases, and not only the Ebola disease.

“Not all deaths during this Ebola crisis are Ebola related,” she said, adding that more people have died and are dying of malaria, running stomach, and other curable diseases.

Mrs. Guasi commended former Public Works Minister, Atty. Samuel Kofi Woods, for negotiating for the medical supplies from the donor, and promised to use them wisely for the intended purpose.

Earlier, Atty. Woods said the donation was made possible through the efforts of several US-based Liberians who are medical practitioners.
