MONROVIA, May 26 (LINA) -The Chairperson of the Constitution Review Committee (CRC), Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott, has said that constitutional reform is a key priority of the Government of Liberia.

She observed that the reform process provides a unique opportunity for advancing reconciliation, political dialogue, nation building, security and peace consolidation in Liberia.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Scott was speaking Friday at a news conference in Monrovia following her return from Southeastern Liberia, where the CRC conducted a week-long public consultation.

“An inclusive, transparent and participatory constitutional review process will also help to create an enabling environment for realizing a long-term political, social stability as well as economic development in Liberia,” Cllr. Scott said.

The CRC Chair has, meanwhile, lauded the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for the important role it continues to play in the ongoing Constitution review process.

She said the UNDP’s support to the constitution reform project, implemented in collaboration with the U. N. Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) and other development partners, has helped in advancing a people driven review and amendment of the Liberian Constitution.
