Vice President Boakai noted that from contributing to educational programs to community initiatives, there are scores of people in Liberia who have given generously for good causes in the country.

He made the remarks over the weekend when he served as special guest at the induction ceremony of officials of the greater Marshall Lions Club at a local hotel in Paynesville outside Monrovia.

Vice President Boakai who is a Rotarian and has participated in more than fourteen functions of the Lions Club since he became Vice President said, as a national leader he is neither Rotarian nor Lion when it comes to appreciating those who selflessly served  their nation and people.

Speaking further, Vice President Boakai noted, ‘engaging in national or community service, working across ethnic, religious and class lines to build a stronger community in disadvantaged communities help to cement philanthropy in our society.

He called on Liberians to start a new era of giving and period of civic patriotism, be more outward looking and put our citizenship into action.

Vice President Boakai pointed out that he sensed a new spirit that ordinary people and government officials alike want this unprecedented demonstration of generosity to be given an enduring purpose and to make this spirit of giving an enduring one, we need all the men and women to engage in volunteer action in communities and  national levels.
