The NOCAL $1.2 million corruption allegation has now deepened, with the Liberian Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) inviting the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative, Hans M. Barchue to provide “useful information and comprehensive expenditure report”.

The corruption body in its communication under the signature of the Chief investigator D. Blamo Kofa to the Deputy speaker of the House of Representatives indicated that the LACC had launched an investigation into the money given to the House of Representatives by the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) to enhance the Legislature’s nationwide consultation on the recently passed Petroleum Law of 2010.

Additionally, the invitation extended was that the Deputy Speaker appear before that body 23rd January 2015 at the precise hour of 10:00 am to give his account of the saga.

Upon receiving the communication from the institution, the Grand Bassa County lawmaker immediately communicated with Plenary of the House of Representatives informing the august body of the latest development in the saga.

The Deputy Speaker, in his communication addressed to his colleagues on Thursday, acknowledged that his presence was wanted at the LACC and that he wanted to provide an expenditure report, including vouchers and other relevant documents.

“Mr. Speaker, I would like to inform you that, since it was the plenary, through the leadership that instructed my committee to conduct this Nation-Wide Tour, I would appreciate were plenary to take siege of this matter,” Deputy Speaker Barchue wrote.

The communication was read and forwarded to the leadership to be deliberated upon next week at which time they would come out with a decision.
