TUBMANBURG, December 8 (LINA) – Three physically challenged groups in Bomi county over the weekend received a donation of rice, Clorox, buckets with faucets and cash from the Deaf and Dumb Department of the United Methodist Church of Liberia.
The three physically challenged groups are Deaf and Dumb, Visually Impaired and the Group of 77.
Presenting the items on behalf of the church, the Program Director of the United Methodist Church, David Wolobah, said the church found it necessary to identify with the physically challenged community during this national crisis to help them cater to their families.
Wolobah who did not indicate the total cost of items donated, said the church will also provide them Ebola preventive materials to prevent them from contracting the virus, adding “physically challenged people are part of the society and should therefore be protected as well.”
In separate remarks on behalf of the three groups, Janet Jones and Alpha Manley of the Death and Dumb and the Group of 77 respectively, said the disabled community has been experiencing difficulty since the Ebola outbreak in the county because no organization has identified with them.
They lauded the church for the gesture and called on other humanitarian organizations to come to the aid of the physically challenged in Bomi County.
