MONROVIA, November 19 (LINA) – The Ministry of Health has distributed Ebola preventive materials nationwide for use during the midterm senatorial election scheduled for Saturday, Assistant Health Minister for Preventive Services Tolbert Nyenswah, has disclosed.

According to Nyenswah, at least 4,700 infrared thermometers, 10,000 sanitizers and faucets and buckets are being distributed to every polling center.

Nyenswah who also heads the Incident Management System for Ebola response made the statement at the Ministry of Information regular Thursday press conference held at the ministry in Monrovia.

He cited that the Government of Liberia in its resolve to eradicate Ebola from the country will continue to institute measures aimed at preventing the further spread of the virus.

Nyenswah said according to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), community health volunteers who are to do temperature screening, should recommend for treatment anyone having a temperature reading above 38 degrees Centigrade or 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit.

He however clarified that a person with elevated temperature does not necessarily mean that he or she is infected with the Ebola virus as the rise in temperature can also be due to other illnesses.

Nyenswah noted that health teams are still on the alert and will immediately respond to any case of emergency during the election.
