MONROVIA, December 30 (LINA) -The Chairman of Montserrado County Incident Management System (M-IMS), Sonpon Blamo Sieh, has cautioned Liberians not to relax measures aimed at stopping the spread and transmission of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease.
He said in order to attain the zero-case goal at the end of 2014, traditional practices such as washing and bathing of dead bodies must be abolished by all citizens across the country.
In a nationwide address recently, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf indicated that the country intends to end the Ebola crisis by the end of December, as part of its national goal in the fight against the disease. However, the new outbreaks in Cape Mount and Nimba Counties might stall render this goal unrealistic.
Sieh gave the advice Tuesday when he appeared at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism daily Ebola press briefings at the ministry in Monrovia.
Sieh observed that with the traces of the virus popping up in New Kru town, Clara Town and the Paynesville-Soul Clinic belt, failure by residents to adhere to strict measures outlined by the Ministry of Health could be devastating for the population.
The M-IMS head observed that only cooperation and common action at community, county and country levels can help stamp out the virus and restore hope and confidence in the people.
