(MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Monday, January 19, 2015) The Government of the Republic of Liberia will hold a two-day Cabinet retreat at Julijuah, Bomi County.

According to the Executive Mansion release, the two-day retreat which runs from Tuesday, January 20 to Wednesday, January 21, brings together all Cabinet Members, Deputy and Assistant Ministers, Heads of State-Owned Enterprises, Agencies, Commissions and Board Chairpersons.

The Director-General of the Cabinet, Mr. Jordan Sulonteh, indicated that over the last six to seven months Government has concentrated its focus on tackling the Ebola virus disease which has had a devastating effect on human and socio-economic activities around the country and put all of its development projects on hold.

With Ebola basically receding, Government has stressed the importance of restarting the projects that were suspended due to the epidemic.

“The Cabinet retreat is intended to align the Cabinet with Government’s priorities, develop an agenda from there to drive the Administration,” the Director-General of the Cabinet said.

Government’s top priority areas, according to its Agenda for Transformation, are roads, energy, ports and youth development.

Beginning the retreat, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will welcome officials of Government, provide an overview of the retreat, enumerate the challenges and expectations as well as introduce the new Cabinet Members.
