President Sirleaf Meets With House Speaker Tyler and Chief Justice Korkpor

MONROVIA, January  8 (LINA)-Following her very successful meeting with President Yayi Boni of Benin and President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Wednesday met with House Speaker J. Alex Tyler and Chief Justice Francis Korkpor at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the Liberian leader briefed Chief Justice Korkpor and House Speaker Tyler about the visit of Presidents Yayi Boni and Mahamadou Issoufou  who Wednesday paid a solidarity visit to Liberia.
 
President Sirleaf also used the occasion to remind the heads of the two branches of government of the urgent need to increase their levels of coordination and understanding in the New Year with a view to achieving what is best and in the interest of the people of Liberia after a difficult and challenging year.
 
“We must redouble, collaborate and effectively coordinate our efforts, if we are to lift our people through the post-Ebola recovery,” President Sirleaf said, adding, “If there is a lesson from Ebola, it is that we are in one boat. Each of us must do our share if our boat is to continue to sail even in difficult weather.”
 
The Liberian leader expressed optimism that notwithstanding the difficulty of the past year, with the ongoing support of the international community and partners, Liberia is still poised to achieve much-needed economic growth as well as advance the cause of peace and improvement in various social services that are desperately needed by the Liberian people.
 
In remarks at the meeting, Speaker Tyler assured the President of the support of the Legislature and promised to work with his colleagues in the House and Senate to restore Liberia to the path of progress and development.
 
Chief Justice Korkpor who hosted the meeting, assured the heads of the other branches of the support of the Judiciary in applying the law to all citizens and residents without fear or favor.
 
The heads of the three branches of the Liberian Government pledged to continue to work together in the best interest of the country and its people.
