MONROVIA, October 21 (LINA) – The Liberia News Agency (LINA) and the Moroccan News Agency (MAP) have signed a cooperation agreement to exchange journalism, technical and documentation expertise.
The two news agencies agreed to exchange their news, photo service and other products with no subscription fees charged to the user party.
Mr. Jay Nagbe, Project Manager of LINA and Mr. Khilil Hachimi Idissi, Director General of MAP signed the agreement on October 14 on the sidelines of the first Forum of Atlantic and sub-Saharan African news agencies, organized by MAP in Casablanca,
The forum, held under the theme "African News Agencies in the Era of Multimedia: What Future", was intended to provide a platform for exchange and reflection on the future of African news agencies and their role amidst changes in the media landscape and the new era of multimedia.
The LINA and MAP agreement provides that each party shall keep the essential content of the news item and mention its source, while granting priority to each other’s news copy while covering events in Morocco and Liberia.
The agreement also provides that the two parties shall respond as much as possible to requests concerning additional service, with the requesting party bearing the pre-arranged cost of such service.
The agreement runs for one year and is tacitly renewed for a similar period if neither party notifies the other in writing at least three months to expiry of its desire to terminate the accord.
