MONROVIA, April 4 (LINA) -The Director General of the Civil Service Agency (CSA), Dr. Puchu Leona Bernard, says the agency has become more professional and effective over the years in executing its statutory functions.

She attributed the level of dedication and commitment to the workforce and their determination to lead the public sector reform process.

Dr. Bernard made the remarks at the opening of a two-day strategic planning workshop held recently in Monrovia to finalize the CSA Annual Work Plan, Annual Capacity Building Priorities and Performance planning for 2016.

She said the responsibility of the CSA has increased over the years with government institutions requiring more deserving service from the Agency.

The CSA Director General admonished the staff to be attentive to the deliberations so that they can use the knowledge acquired to enhance the reform activities across the various ministries, agencies and commissions.

Also speaking at the opening session, the Chief of Party at the USAID Governance and Economic Management Support project, Mrs. Victoria Cooper-Enchia, said the strategic planning workshop will strengthen the knowledge and operational capacity of the CSA and allow the workforce to better understand the agency's three-year strategic plan and the implementation processes.

For his part, CSA Deputy Director General for Administration, Mr. Othello Weh, commended USAID GEMs for the level of support provided the CSA in strengthening its institutional capacity.

He noted that such collaboration has been very useful in transferring knowledge and enhancing the work of the various Internal Reform Committees with whom the CSA coordinates.
