Liberia Climbs 10 Places In Latest FIFA World Ranking

MONROVIA, June 21 (LINA) – Liberia’s men senior national team, “The Lonestar” has advanced 10 places on FIFA Coca-Cola World Cup Ranking.
According to a statement from the Liberia Football Association released Thursday, June 20, 2024, the Lonestar of Liberia has climbed from 152 to 142 places in the latest classification, making the country the biggest climber in the recent FIFA Coca-Cola World Cup Ranking.
The FIFA-Coca-Cola recent ranking has put Liberia’s men senior national team as the biggest riser, climbing 10 places following an undefeated start in the qualifiers for FIFA World Cup 2026, AFCON 2025.
As part of the gains made by the senior national team, Liberia played host to Namibia with a comfortable 1-1 draw in Orlando, Johannesburg, South Africa. Prior to that match, Namibia was almost 50 places above Liberia in FIFA ranking.
Also, a win against Sao Tome in the qualifiers contributed to Liberia’s advancement to its highest position in seven years.
The statement further noted that the upturn in fortune follows a significant investment in soccer from the Liberia Football Association and FIFA Forward Programme.
The LFA in the statement extended thanks and appreciation to Liberians as well as the FIFA Council for their continuous support towards the improvement of soccer in Liberia.
