Over 40 Customary Communities To Obtain Statutory Land Deeds In Cape Mount

MONROVIA, August 8 (LINA) – The Chairman of the Liberia Land Authority (LLA), Atty. J. Adams Manobah Sr., has disclosed that his institution has commenced a confirmatory survey across 40 communities in Grand Cape County aimed at issuing statutory land deeds to those communities.

 

According to a statement from the LLA dated August 8, 2024, the program is being held by the LLA in partnership with the UNDP with funding from the UN Peacebuilding Fund.

 

The release narrated that prior to the survey, precursor activities were carried out, including community engagements, meetings with local authorities, traditional leaders, chiefs, women and youth groups, live radio appearances/interviews, and announcements on local radio stations.

 

The statement quoted the LLA Chairman as stressing the need for representatives from the 40 selected communities to take the process seriously, calling it a dream come true for the county.

 

Chairman Manobah also highlighted the importance of the full support of all stakeholders for the peaceful completion of the survey.

 

The LLA boss noted that the successful completion of the survey across the selected communities is a historic achievement for the people of Grand Cape Mount.

 

The statement revealed that the survey began on July 22, 2024, in Garwula District and is expected to be conducted across nine Clans: Manoballah, Kiazulu, Kiahorn, Laar, Kposo, Zogbo, Kiadii, Manna, and Sokpo.
