Pres. Boakai Appoints Saamoi As Acting Executive Governor Of CBL

MONROVIA, Aug. 1 (LINA) – President Joseph N. Boakai has with immediate effect appointed Henry F. Saamoi as Acting Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) following the suspension of the CBL Executive Governor, Aloysius Tarlue.

A statement from the  Executive Mansion indicated that Henry Fallah Saamoi served as the Executive Officer of International Bank (Liberia) Limited and led the International Bank of Liberia with no negative news of fraud.

The Executive Mansion statement dated July 31, 2024 said President Boakai calls on appointed officials to continue to demonstrate diligence, commitment, integrity, professionalism, and loyalty in service to the country. 

The communication indicated that Mr. Henry F. Saamoi earned a graduate degree in banking from the University of Wisconsin in the United States.

β€œFrom a humble beginning as an intern at IB in 1999, Mr. Saamoi has meticulously climbed the corporate ladder, taking on roles of increasing responsibility before being appointed CEO in 2012. Under his stewardship, the bank has seen remarkable growth, with its asset base ballooning from $20 million in 2007 to $125 million in 2018,” the Executive Mansion statement noted.

It highlighted that following his remarkable leadership and significant contributions to the banking sector, Mr. Saamoi was confirmed with the prestigious distinguished award in March 2024 in Ethiopia as the person of the year of the 12th  African Leadership Magazine person of the year.

It can be recalled, the President of Liberia Joseph Nyuma Boakai with immediate effect suspended the Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) Aloysius Tarlue, in response to findings from a recent General Auditing Commission (GAC) audit report.
