Speaker Koffa Says Legislative Reform Forum Enhances Capacities Of Lawmaker

MARGIBI, June 24 (LINA) βThe Speaker of the 55th Legislature, Hon. J. Fonati Koffa has underscored the importance of the just ended Legislative Reform Forum, citing that the opportunity will help augment the legislative capacities of the members of the House of Representatives.
Speaking at the start of a three-day Legislative Reform Forum at a local hotel in Margibi County over the weekend, Speaker Koffa added that the 2024 Legislative Reform Forum is key to addressing the capacity needs of members of the House of Representatives in the areas of local and foreign expertise in law, best practices, and comparative parliamentary procedures.
Speaker Koffa assured the citizenry that the House of Representatives under his leadership will continue to be open and transparent in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
In related development, the Liberian Speaker has lauded the European Union, Sweden Sverige, Irish Aid, UNDP, and UN Women for their significant support towards the success of the 3-day Legislative Reform.
At the same time, the Liberian Lawmaker praised UN Women for working to improve the welfare of Liberian women and girls through more responsive lawmaking and oversight.
Meanwhile, Speaker Koffa disclosed that the House of Representatives utilized the amount of US$16,062.50 (Sixteen Thousand, Sixty-two Dollars and Fifty Cents) for its Legislative Reform Forum.
He added that the amount covers the Secretariat, Facilitators, Media, and Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) for members of the House of Representatives for the three-day event.
As for accommodation and feeding expenses, Speaker Koffa revealed that the partners generously covered them.
The Forum was held under the theme: Responsive Lawmaking, Proactive Oversight and People-Centered Representation.
