The Liberian Senate has concurred with the House of Representatives on the passage of the 2024 recast budget in the amount of US$738.8 million.

The recast-budget was passed on late Monday, September 23, 2024, after a Conference Committee report was read and endorsed by members of the Liberian Senate following a motion from Maryland County Senator J. Gbleh Bo-Brown.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget, Prince Moye, has said the passage of the recast budget will meet the requirements of the International Monetary Funds (IMF) for Liberia to enroll into the Extended Credit Facility Program of the IMF.

Senator Moye stated that the passage of the budget also gives the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning the mandate to borrow from commercial banks to prevent any deficit in the fiscal year 2024.

He maintained that all allotments for programs to be executed in the 2024 National Budget are still on course for implementation.
