U.S. Commits To Supporting Liberia’s Socio-Economic Challenges

  The United States Ambassador accredited to Liberia has pledged his government's support to help Liberia address its socio-economic challenges through the ARREST agenda of President Joseph N. Boakai, Sr.

During a courtesy visit to Vice President Jeremiah K. Koung at the Capitol Building on Monday, October 7, 2024, Ambassador Mark Toner reaffirmed the U.S. government's commitment to working with Liberia to mitigate the country’s economic crisis, noting that the U.S. is particularly interested in bolstering Liberia’s economic recovery.

Ambassador Toner highlighted the longstanding diplomatic relations between the two nations and pointed out that American investors are currently exploring opportunities in Liberia, particularly in sectors like agriculture and tourism.

He stressed that investment in these areas could play a pivotal role in creating jobs, expanding the private sector, and driving economic growth.

For his part, Vice President Koung expressed his gratitude to the U.S. for its continued support, acknowledging that the U.S. remains Liberia’s most significant partner and emphasized the government’s dedication to strengthening bilateral relations based on shared interests.
