The Anti-Robbery Unit of the Liberia National Police (LNP) has arrested and is currently investigating five suspects in connection with an alleged armed robbery targeting a Chinese national, Joseph Xu, a resident of Congo Town, Monrovia.

According to the LNP press statement dated Tuesday, October 8, 2024, the suspects are identified as Emmanuel Johnson, alias Wallace; Alfred Lablah, alias Puyol; Junior Bundor, alias Prince; Malachi Eze, alias Promise; and Leemu Tabah. All five are currently in police custody undergoing investigation.

Preliminary police investigations revealed that on Friday, September 13, 2024, the suspects allegedly broke into Joseph Xu's home, held him and his wife at gunpoint, and stole an unspecified amount of cash along with other valuables.

The police further disclosed that the same group of suspects attempted to enter Xu’s premises again on Thursday, October 3, 2024, when they were apprehended by the Anti-Robbery Unit, adding that the suspects were arrested in two separate vehicles, both taxis.

Several items, including a pin bar, a steel cutter, a substance allegedly used to drug the victims and multiple keys, were found in their possession.

The LNP also reported that the two vehicles involvedβ€”one with the license plate TX-03201 and a Nissan sedan without a plateβ€”have been impounded at the LNP headquarters as investigations continue.
