Amb. Nyenabo Participates In Inaugural EU-Africa Cyber Diplomacy Meeting

MONROVIA, June 22 (LINA) –The Liberia Ambassador to Belgium Isaac W. Nyenabo II, and his counterparts are participating in a two-day informal meeting of EU-Africa Ambassadors, focusing on Cyber and Digital Diplomacy aimed at preparing for a policy dialogue.

 

According to a dispatch from the Liberian Embassy in Belgium, the two-day dialogue is focused on the importance of digitalization for social and economic development and for policymakers to focus on enhancing connectivity and encouraging digital transitions.

The release further cited that digital and cyber issues have risen in the agendas of national and regional policymakers and have gained prominence in multilateral forums pointing out the momentum for the EU and Africa to find common ground on these matters.

 

The implementation, according to the release, will have a significant impact on future legislation, policies, and frameworks on both continents is also essential, said the Liberia Embassy in Belgium.

 

"As highlighted in the 2022 joint communication themed 'Towards a Comprehensive Strategy with Africa,' digital and cyber policies, along with peace, security, and governance, play a strategic role in the cooperation between the EU and Africa," the Embassy said in the statement. 

 

It added that at the same time, threats and vulnerabilities in cyberspace present risks to governments, economies, and societies in both Europe and Africa.
