The valedictorian of the World Wide High School, Butozi Karnga, has called on parents, heads of academic institutions, clergy, as well as Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to help propagate anti-drug messages to mitigate drug abuse.
Delivering his valedictory message on September 20th, 2024, during the World Wide Mission 22nd graduation ceremony held in Monrovia, student Karnga called on parents to look after their children diligently in every sector of society which according to him, would help fight against the use of harmful substances by Liberia’s youthful population.
The young valedictorian cautioned the heads of reputable institutions and other Civil Society groups to see the fight against illicit drugs as holistic and must be considered as a national emergency in Liberia as a means of protecting the future generation of Liberia.
“I also urge the Government of Liberia to create programs that will take the disadvantaged youths and victims of drug abuse from the streets, rehabilitate them and resettle them in the communities. This will help bring back the lost Human Resources of our country, “the World Wide Mission top student added.
He emphasized that the success of Liberia depends on the youth as he encouraged his fellow youths to conduct themselves in ways that bring joy and prosperity to their parents and Liberia as a country by avoiding things that have the propensity to undermine the reputation of the nation to the outside world.
Meanwhile, Student Karnga urged his fellow graduates to see the high school diploma as a stepping stone in achieving higher education.
He encouraged his fellow graduates to enroll in universities, vocational and technical schools to enable them to make an impact in society.
Also, Karnga cautioned his colleagues to stay away from vices that have the tendency to derail their dreams and aspirations and help fight against drugs for Mama Liberia.
